Advisory Program

Our Middle School's Advisory Program provides each student with a passionate, caring and understanding advocate.  This team-driven/student-centered program offers a safe environment that encourages and enables students to develop responsibility, self-respect, and to create a sense of community.

All middle school students meet in their advisory groups each Friday morning for 40 minutes. Typical activities that take place during the advisory time are the following:

  • Organization for the week, including lockers, notebooks, agendas, and classroom materials
  • Preparation for Student-Led Portfolio Conferences
  • Discussion of issues related to school climate
  • Organization of grade level events such as Service Learning projects and field trips

Advisory teachers and students constantly take advantage of this time to address issues of concern as they arise. Advisory is an important component of the middle school concept as it provides the students with an outlet for their social and emotional needs.
